‘Apex Legends’ Invitational Tournament Kicks Off This September
Earlier this week we told you about the lucky teen who took home millions of dollars after winning the first Fortnite World Cup. And if you’re anything like us that inspired you to up your esports skills for the next opportunity to make that much cash by being the last player standing. Well if your game of choice is the character-based Apex Legends instead of the building-based Fortnite, your chance might have just arrived.
This September EA is hosting the first Apex Legends Preseason Invitational tournament. It will be the biggest tournament yet for the game that just launched this February. Teams must apply via email and get approved, random players can’t sign up. Ultimately 80 teams, or 240 players, will compete in double elimination rounds for $500,000 worth of prizes. It’s not as much as Fortnite but we’d still take it.
“Competition is in the DNA of Apex Legends and this competitive event will showcase the game at its highest-level,” said Respawn Entertainment Design Director Chad Grenier in a statement. “This Apex Legends Preseason Invitational advances our vision towards a robust competitive experience with the community at the center.”
The Apex Legends Preseason Invitational tournament goes from September 13 to September 15 in Krakow, Poland. If you think you and your team have a shot, try to see if you qualify.
